As was announced earlier this year after Google I/O 2016, Xiaomi has launched the Mi Box in the US market in collaboration with Google. Starting today, the device is on sale for $69 from its Mi.com website and will soon be available in Walmart and on Walmart.com website.
For $69, you get a media player that runs Android TV OS with 4K 60fps playback and HDR-10 support is coming with Nougat update. It runs an unspecified (although we suspect its the Amlogic S905) SoC with quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU clocked at 2.0GHz and Mali-450 GPU, with 2GB RAM, and 8GB storage with microSD. It has dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, SPDIF/headphone audio out, and HDMI 2.0a with DTS 2.0 and Dolby Digital Plus output in up to 7.1. It comes bundled with a Bluetooth remote controller.
With Android TV, you get access to all the Android apps and games on the Play Store, with streaming services and l ive tv channels as well through Sling TV. You get $50 of free credit if you subscribe to Sling TV, 3-months of free trial with Pandora, and $5 credit with VUDU with your purchase of Mi Box. The Mi Box is also compatible with Google Cast.
