Gionee S6s launched in India for 267

Gionee has launched the S6s smartphone in India. Its a mid-range device that should compete against the likes of the Redmi Note 3 and the Lenovo Vibe K5 Note in terms of specifications but not so much in terms of the price.

The S6s has a 5.5-inch 1080p display that also acts as a flash for the 8 megapixel front camera. The phone also has a MediaTek MT6753 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB expandable storage, 13 megapixel rear camera, fingerprint sensor, VoLTE, 3150mAh battery, and Android 6.0.

The Gionee S6s is priced at INR 17,999 ($267), which makes it the most expensive phone in its class. The phone will be available in Mocha Gold and Latte Gold colors across retailers and online on Amazon.

Unlocked Windows 10 powered alcatel Idol 4S now available in US

The alcatel Idol 4S with Windows 10 and VR was launched in the US back in November this year. However, it has only been available through T-Mobile (network locked) so far. Thats changing today as Microsoft has now started selling the unlocked variant of the handset.

The Redmond company has the phone listed on its online US store for $470, which is same as what the magenta carrier is currently asking for the device.

Huawei sends out press invites for August 17 event in India P9 expected

Huawei has started sending media invites for a product launch event set for August 17 in India. While there is no word on the star of the show, reports say the Chinese company will launch its P9 smartphone at the event.

If you recall, Huaweis India Consumer Device Business Group President Allen Wang had indicated last month that the device could land in the country soon, although no specific date or month was revealed.

The phone was made official back in early April this year. Its selling point is its dual-camera setup, which has been co-engineered with German optics specialist Leica.
